Farming in Cambodia
What is needed is for farmers to be able to “add value” to their products. Farming in Cambodia is mainly small farms run by families. The biggest single issue is inward investment. Investment is required at a micro level for farmers and co-ops to invest in automation and machinery. However, I bought some equipment for a family only to find out that there was a consistent (and constant) lack of cash for gasoline or repairs.
Becoming involved in farming in Cambodia is a long-term project. One that is best suited to individuals or groups who want to return year after year. However, your satisfaction and accomplishment levels will be astronomical. If farmers can produce extra produce to sell at market, it will mean that their children will receive a superior education.
