Tourist Places in Cambodia
Cambodia has countless number of tourist places to visit all year round. We have listed what we believe are some unmissable tourist places in Cambodia. Be mindful that Cambodian etiquette is very important to khmers; old and young.
We have all visited these destinations ourselves and believe they are worth a visit:

Silver Pagoda in Phnom Penh is an oasis of calm. Looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of PP – head here for an hour or so.
Tourist Places in Cambodia | no 4
Ta Mok’s Lake; because of the manual labour and deaths that occurred here. Of all the tourist places in Cambodia it probably deserves more attention than it receives. Ta Mok’s Lake at Along Veng is one of the few legacies of the Pol Pot regime that does any good. We believe it is worthy of a visit and to take in the history of the Khmer Rouge regime under Pol Pot – brother No 1. Ta Mok was brother number 5 AKA the butcher.

The Bamboo railway and Battambang is a hoot. When 2 bogies meet each other on this single track “railway” the bogie with the lighter goods on it is removed from the track. The bogie with the heaver goods moves on and the you re-alight for your onward journey. Just pray that the railway isn’t too busy.

The Killing Fields at Anlong Veng are without doubt a spooky place. The ride to the fields is innocuous until you realise what was done there. Walking about the killing fields is — strange. It is difficult to understand the brutality of one man against his country man.

Without doubt Angkor Temples are a must see. We suggest that you buy a weekly ticket. That way you can see sunsets, sunrise and give Angkor the time it deserves. This means that you won’t become exhausted.
Places to visit in Siem Reap
Many would believe that the only places to visit in Siem Reap are the temples. They are undoubtedly awesomely magnificent; however, there are other things to visit on your “days off” from visiting the temples and creating bas reliefs.
Siem Reap is an ideal destination to base yourself in Cambodia. Simply check booking.com for a hotel and see how many lodgings have ratings of over 9. From guest houses to 5* hotels. From $10 per night to $300 the choice is huge.
Many of the stunning places to visit in Siem Reap and a relaxing walk or a short tuk tuk ride from your hotel.
Pub Street – mobile cocktail vans
Pub Street in Siem Reap is easily walkable; assuming you can walk past the bars and cafes. For a quieter visit plan to end you evening by 8sh. For those of you who like a livelier and louder evening out after 10pm is interesting.Cockials for $1.50 and beers for $1.
An evening out will certainly be much better for a few hours at a mobile cocktail van. As your cocktails are prepared you can be the DJ.

Day out with Tuk Tuk
Do not miss out on a chance to have an adventure with a tuk tuk driver. Your hotel or Voluntouring Abroad can organize one for you. Or be adventurous and just pick one of many. Always better to engage one who can speak your language. Or you could learn some Khmer.
What makes a pizza happy? Something you can ask when you are here. You can have your pizza midly happy, to fall off the chair rolling about happy. Be careful.
On a hot day cool off the Kulen Waterfall. You are unable to use the river that runs through Siem Reap; so, go to Kulen either with a tour operator or a tuk tuk. Or consider cyclebodia and hire a bike.
What can we say about Angkor Wat that has not been said a thousand times before? It is a bucket list favourite. Just do it. Best not to use an air con vehicle. Getting in and out of an air conditioned vehcile makes you feel worse than a tuk tuk. Use a tuk tuk and a tour guide – they get in for free.
Best time to visit Cambodia
This is a question often asked about all destinations whether it be Cambodia or another country. The best time to visit Cambodia will depend on what your activities will be when you visit Cambodia. So, the best time to visit Cambodia is going to be very personal to you. If you fancy river cruising and looking at waterfalls, then wet season. The Tonle Sap lake is a bit boring and murky in dry season. Plus, the houses that seem to float on the lake are high and dry on stilts.
If you want to remain dry the best time to visit Cambodia is November to April
Should a drop of rain (maybe more than a drop) doesn’t worry you. Then the best time to visit Cambodia is May to October. Many hotels will offer great deals during the wet season.
