Volunteer Abroad in Cambodia | Charity
After advice from several people we have decided to register Volunteer Abroad in Cambodia as a Cambodian charity. The registration process will take 3-4 months. We had originally thought that becoming a charity was not necessary. By becoming a registered UK charity it means that we can apply for grants and accept donations. We can pass this income to charitable causes in Cambodia.
Essential Travel Items
Voluntouring Abroad | April statistics
On several fronts we are progressing nicely which means that we will hit our milestone target of 10,000 visitors by December, 2018. By attracting 10,000 visitors we will be able to persuade at least 600 volunteers per month to volunteer in Cambodia. The fact is, many volunteer companies charge from $400 to $1,400 USD per volunteer, this cash is available to be paid directly to Cambodian charities. This could mean an extra $500,000 USD per month coming directly into Cambodian charities.
Expenses are increasing and income has remained stagnant. We continue to fund the project through personal contributions. If you feel compelled to make a donation you will find a button at the bottom of every page. All donations will be used to build and promote our platform.

Sadly, much of our time has been taken up with phishing expeditions from would be Cambodian charities. We have literally spent 40-60+ hours doing unpaid research or explaining business plans to some charity projects. Our time would have been better spent promoting our website or contacting bone fide charities. All we ask of these companies is to be up front and we will willingly inform them of how we do “stuff”.
Cambodian Charities who have joined us
We are thrilled that 2 Cambodian Charities will be featuring on our website. The Ark and Grace House can be found on our charity pages.
Volunteering Sales Funnel
After signing up for information with a global volunteering organisation, I am well and truly in their volunteering sales funnel. It has only been 4 weeks and I have now received my 3 rd email. This particular organisation receives about 50,000 unique visitors to their website each month. With a modest conversion rate of 3% they would net $450,000 per month. They have told us that they send 60-80 volunteers per month to Cambodia on various projects and if my math serves me right that is a minimum of $18,000 which would completely fund our Battambang fish farm project.
